Dr. Sandhya Prashad
Houston Ketamine Therapeutics was created to provide ketamine infusions for treatment resistant disorders. Our goal is to give our patients the best opportunity to benefit from the ketamine infusion treatments. With this in mind, we developed a process that ensures our patients are positioned to achieve the highest level of success. We accomplish this from day one by monitoring all aspects of the patients health and continue the process after the infusions are complete. We know the greatest opportunity for success with the ketamine infusion process comes from truly understanding the needs of our patients.
Dr. Prashad is a board certified psychiatrist and is the founder and medical director of Houston Ketamine Therapeutics. Houston Ketamine Therapeutics was formed in 2016 and Dr. Prashad has personally administered over 2000 IV ketamine treatments and over 1000 intranasal esketamine (Spravato) treatments. Dr. Prashad completed both medical school and residency training at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. During her residency training, she served as the administrative chief resident as well as the chief resident of the Baylor Psychiatry Clinic. She has a special interest in treating depression and bipolar disorder as well as psychiatric illnesses in pregnant and postpartum women. During her residency training, she focused on evaluating and treating treatment resistant mood disorders at the Baylor Mood Disorders Center. Dr. Prashad has been in private practice in the Houston area since 2011. Dr. Prashad felt dissatisfied with the relatively ineffective available treatment options with burdensome side effects for patients with treatment resistant disorders and sought out additional, novel treatment options. She became interested in IV ketamine because of its robust, rapid effects and lack of side effects between treatments. She has seen remarkable results with ketamine infusions and is excited to be able to offer this amazing treatment option. She also has expertise in treating treatment resistant mood disorders and utilizes other interventional treatments such as deep TMS and advanced medication management protocols to address these disorders.
Dr. Prashad was named one of Houston’s Top Doctors by H Texas Magazine for 2017, 2018 and 2019. She was also the recipient of the Eugen Kahn award for excellence in Psychiatry. She is a founding member, the former secretary and the current president of the American Society of Ketamine Physicians (www.ASKP.org) which is a non-profit organization created to advocate for the safe use of ketamine for mental illness and pain disorders and to expand access to ketamine therapy. She has also presented on the national level at several medical conferences regarding the use of ketamine. In addition, she serves on an advisory panel for research regarding ketamine.
